  3. <hi style=afpcap>The Beech Aircraft Corporation designed the model 28 with 1943 funding, which was allocated the designation XA-38 Destroyer. This was the companies first attempt at designing an attack aircraft, although only the two prototypes were built as there was lack of availability of the R-3350-43 powerplants until the type had become obsolete.</hi>
